This sink is difficult to show from a photo, it needs to be seen and felt to apprciate.  It is fully functional and includes all needed hardware, brand-new, to attach to a wall in a small guest bathroom.  Local buyers in the Des Moines area only, it would be too expensive to ship.  Contact me for price and details.

Big things...

Large Platters & bowls

Image of woodtraycandleweb.jpg
This huge wooden bowl/platter measures 18" across, and 2 1/2" high.  It contains shards from antique china, a spoon, leaf tile, pearls, mirror pieces, shells, marbles, vintage rhinestone jewelry pieces, an old candle holder (which does hold thin candles, makes a stunning serving piece), a bird from an old McCoy planter, and other found objects.

Summer Sale!  Concrete bird bath, includes stand which is not covered with shards, $200, local residents only due to size and weight!  I'm clearing some large items from my work-room in order to prepare for the Carbondale Mountain Art Fair in July.

This tray is made from a planter tray which I've used to make table-top trays; they can also be used as bird-baths.  This one is huge, measuring 20" across the top and 3" deep.  It contains shards from American Art Pottery shards, beads, marbles, mirror pieces, and fishing lures.  This tray is quite heavy, so shipping is impractical.  However, if you are in the des moines, iowa area, you can pick it up for $300.00.  Call or E-mail for details or to make arrangements to come by and see this item.  For large pieces like this, I feel it's important to see and feel the shards to really appreciate its impact, and especially to see how it looks when filled with water and hit by rays of sunlight.

My pieces are made mostly from very old china shards collected from area antique shops, junk stores, our local Salvation Army Store, E-bay, tag sales, estate auctions, and from the basements and attics of friends and clients.  I often find bags of old china and vintage jewelry on my porch, left by friends and customers who know how valuable this old junk is to me.

I'm particular about the shards I use; not only are very old shards more beautiful in color, crazing and texture, they also break into more interesting shapes when nipped.
Decoupaged old photos, post cards, and other images add even more interest to a peice.  Vintage rhinestone jewelry, silverware, Capodimonte flowers, birds, bottles, and anything else imaginable round out creations that can be tailored to create a deeply personal creation for a loved one. Grout is custom-colored to highlight the shards.

My work has been featured in Country Home Magazine, as well as other midwestern publications.  My favorite was an article in the Des Moines Register's Date Book restaurant reveiw section regarding my mirrors for the public restrooms at the Talerico family's  Sam & Gabe's Restaurant in Des Moines. (click here to read). which was also my favorite commission job and can be My work can be purchased from purchased from Especially Lace in Valley Junction, Iowa, and also From Our Hands in the East Village in the East Village in Des Moines.  Also, items can be purchased or ordered through this site.  Wholesale pricing is available on a limited basis. Most of my work is by commission.
